Room 12 Swimming Reflections

In room 12 we have been reflecting on our swimming the week before the big earthquake.
by Saskia and Anella

Monday, September 13, 2010

I see the land pulling itself apart.
I smell the smoke of the burning fire.
I hear the ground shouting under us.
I feel like my heart is beating to death.
I taste the dust passing in my mouth.
It makes me feel very scared.

The Earthquake

I see a big giant crack in the ground.
I smell the fish tank.
I hear crying babies.
I feel broken glass.
I taste dust in my mouth.
It makes me feel angry and scared!!

Some of us made kiwis and some of us made love hearts.

We put them into the oven. Then we went to the general store to buy some groceries.

room11 science experiment

This morning Room 11 did science. We used water, scittles, milk, dye, dish washing liquid and glitter.
First we put scittles in the water to see what would happen. The water changed colour! First the water stayed white for a while then it turned brown and we had to tip it out.
After that we used milk for the second experiment. We put in some dish washing liquid the middel of some drops of dye. When we put the dish washing liquid in every thing started to move around in the container.
Then we put some green and orange dye in we put some glitter in it the dish washing liquid made the glitter move around.

pumpkin soup in room 11

On Friday Room 11 made pumpkin soup with Mele,Luseta,Ako,Harrison and Anton. We made the pumpkin soup with Miss Mckenzie. She came with all the ingredients but some of the ingredients weren't for the pumpkin soup (they were just there to make us think).

When we finished the chefs went to the staff room and cleaned the dishes we used. When we came back from the staff room Miss Mckenzie checked the soup.

After that at lunch time Miss Mckenzie scooped some of the pumpkin soup into the cups we had made and gave some away.

When we were making the pumpkin soup Mr Morgan asked some of the label makers and reporters if they would like to ask the chefs some questions to help their writting. They took some pictures too.
